January ended with Baby Eva's 1st birthday, and February began with a visit from Grammy! Bob and I decided that since Grammy doesn't get to see Nate as often, we should pick a fun "first" for her to be a part of. Since Nate's hair was hanging in his eyes a bit, we decided to take him for his first haircut. There is a great little salon for kids called Little Locks in Birdrock (La Jolla area) that is a toy store up front, complete with a Thomas the Train set, 2 rabbits, and a lizard and the hair salon in the back has race car and motorcycle chairs, tvs, and tubs of toys. What more could you ask for??
Bob and Sharon were sure he would leave without actually getting a haircut (they wanted to place bets but neither thought he would go through with it)...but that was before they saw the place. Nate was so distracted that he hardly knew he got his haircut. He wasn't too keen on it at first, but he did great, no fuss or tears. He got a certificate and a few locks of his hair for us as a keepsake. We just had it trimmed a little, so not a big difference in looks, just out of his eyes a bit. 
The day Grammy arrived, we 
discovered poor Natey had an absess on his bottom and he was put on a strong antibiotic. It was still not better by Sun. so we were back in Urgent Care to get him checked out. They upped the dosage and he is now doing great, other than the cold and cough he probably picked up at the doctor's office. When we got home from the doctor's on Sun., Grammy took Nate for the afternoon and Bob and I went to watch the Superbowl. She had a great time playing with him, feeding and bathing him, and putting him to bed. Thanks Grammy!

He picks up signs quickly and makes up his own when necessary. Some are really cute! He likes to stretch with me before my runs (a group of friends and I are training for the Rock & Roll Marathon in June) and has made up a sign for mommy going running. He just got a T-ball set and has mastered it amazingly fast. The house often looks like a toy tornado has blown through, but it often seems futile to pick things up until he goes to bed. He is a bundle of energy, and continues to be a happy little guy.
We are looking forward to a visit from Grandma and Grandpa at the end of the month.
